Who we are

ASO is a platform to celebrate sport and outdoor culture in Western Pennsylvania.

We like slow, tactice, in-person projects.

We do this by producing a bi-annual print magazine, host an annual film festival and publish a print race guide.

In Fall of 2025, we will be launching ASO Summit at Rockwell Park in Pittsburgh, PA. An annual, in-person gathering for those playing, contributing and working in the sport and outdoor recreation industry across Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.

ASO was founded and run by Chas Wagner. He enjoys bringing people together through various projects, like Paper & Dirt in Point Breeze and race director of the Frick Park Trail Series. He is currently co-director of Case Sensitive and previously a co-founder of the Pittsburgh Art Book Fair.

You can find him walking or trail running at Frick Park or schvitzing at Signal or Bad Sauna in the East End.
